Celebrating the Joy of Cooking!

Once a month the students cook and bake a variety of dishes from spaghetti with meat sauce, to macaroni and cheese to brownies.

This past week students split into smaller groups and made nachos and a dessert.

There was a cheese and meat station, a guacamole and salsa station, and two churro puppy chow stations. 

ELA Teacher Nancy Thomas, who runs the club, says that unlike watching cooking shows or reading recipes, students gain hands-on experience by actively participating in the cooking process making it a more effective way to learn. 

At the end of the year, student chefs will receive their very own cookbook with all the recipes students have created throughout the year.
