Congrats To The 2024 Graduates!
On Wednesday, May 29, Algonquin Middle School celebrated the Class of 2024 with their annual promotion ceremony held at Maine West High School.
The ceremony had numerous highlights, starting with a "welcome" spoken in 15 different languages, showcasing the diversity of the student body.
The talented students who form the AMS Promotion Ensemble performed "The Best Day of My Life" by The American Authors.
As part of the ceremony, teacher Ms. Folinazzo announced the recipient of the Patrick Boswell Courage Award. According to the "Patrick Lives On" website, the award honors the memory of a District 62 student who was taken away too soon due to gang violence and provides financial support to foster "acts of courage" among middle school students. Students vote for an 8th grade student who exemplifies positive, productive behavior.
Board President Ronald Burton spoke to the graduates, encouraging them to find their purpose.
Principal Dr. Jones concluded the speeches by reminding the students that helping others is the key to a successful future.
All of the Algonquin Middle School staff is proud of the Class of 2024 and wish them well as they head off to high school!
