Newcomers Choose "The Best Parts" of Themselves
Algonquin
The Newcomers class at Algonquin Middle School helps students who are new to the United States adjust to the daily routine of school and life in America.
To start the new school year off, the students in the class read the book The Best Part of Me, which celebrates kids’ favorite things about themselves.
The students then took pictures of what they believed were their best features and wrote about them.
Hands, feet, smiles and hair were just some of the features the students chose.
The collection of photos is currently on display on the class bulletin board for all to enjoy.
The students are having fun engaging in activities focused on building community, learning about each other and feeling welcomed and accepted.
