Acceptance Club Students in all grades are welcome to join our student-led club. We provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities.

Boys Club

Boys club provides students opportunities to meet other students from 6th-8th, participate in new activities, and have opportunities to learn new skills. We will meet for an informational meeting early in the school year. 

Past events include open gym time, outside time for sports, trivia, cooking, pumpkin painting/carving and holiday events. We also would like to continue a few filed trips to Forest Elementary School. Last year Boys Club played games with some of their students and it was a great time for all.

Builders Club

All are welcome to Service Club - a dedicated community of students united by the common goal of making a positive impact on our local and global community. Our club is a platform for those who believe in the power of service and are eager to contribute their time, skills, and compassion to create meaningful change.

Chess Club Our club meets weekly to play/learn chess. We learn and try new and different variations of chess.  Some members are new to the game and are just learning it.  Others play the game of chess and its variations as well as some other strategy games.  We definitely have fun!

Club Zen Students will be provided with a relaxing environment to complete mindful activities of their choice. There will be flexible seating, calm lighting, and soft music playing in the background. Activities will include puzzles, coloring, drawing, journaling, yoga, reading, DIY stress relievers (stress balls, slime, heating pads, etc.)

Cooking Club Starting in September, students will have the opportunity to test out their cooking skills and taste test different cuisine. Students will learn kitchen safety, prep, and the use of kitchen equipment. There is a limited amount of seats available, so please check the daily announcements for sign-up directions.

Craft Club Join use very other week to make some crafts! There will be a different project every meeting: anything from macrame to clay bead bracelets, origami to dreamcatchers, Perler beads, watercolors and more!

Drone Soccer

All grades. Students will be playing 5 on 5 drone soccer. Students will work as teams and learn to fly and maintain the drones. There will be interscholastic competition with Chippewa and Iroquois.

Flight Club Flying is one of the greatest innovations of mankind.  If you’re interested in anything related to flying, this is for you!  Come and explore what makes flight possible.  Participate in different activities related to a variety of flying objects, and learn about some of the many applications of flight in our daily lives.

Game Club

A club devoted to strategy games and fun with friends and Legos. Try out some more strategic games like Risk, Monopoly, Settlers of Catan and many more. Legos, Pokemon, iPad games as well!

Girls on the Run We are a running group for 6th- 8th grade girls. We meet twice a week to develop self-esteem, fostering an empowerment for leadership and positive life choices. We promote emotional, physical and mental well being. Our season ends with a 5K in downtown Chicago!

Mariachi Los Zafiros Azules

Mariachi Club is for EVERYONE! You do NOT need to have experience to join. Students who have no musical experience can play vihuela, guitar, or just sing! Students who are string players (violin, viola) or brass (trumpet) are highly encouraged to join and find a different musical experience other than band/orchestra!

We have performed at several cultural fairs, Dia del Niño at OP Elementary, incoming 6th grade open house, and the Latino Summit at Maine West.

Student Council

Students are responsible for the following: promoting school spirit, organizing fundraisers/school events, volunteering in the community, planning school dances, and being a good role model for other students.

Students should plan to attend Wednesday meetings, and volunteer for concessions sales as their schedule allows.
