AMS Book Club

Our fun and friendly club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month to discuss popular young adult books, some chosen by the teacher and some by students. When applicable, we add in craft projects and movies.

Scrabble Club

Letter board game with multiple strategies: Vocabulary, spelling, anagramming, and counting.  In 2004, SCRABBLE was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame!

Newspaper Club

Extra, Extra!  Read all about it!  Do you like to write?  Do you like to find out what’s happening in our school?  Do you like to take pictures?  We need you for our Newspaper Club!  Consider joining our group as a reporter and be a part of a cool club!

Art Club

Students will have an opportunity to use a variety of materials and paint and draw with friends. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are welcome.

Yearbook

Yearbook Club meets at various times throughout the year during recess or after school(schedule will be provided at the first meeting). Students help pick out the yearbook cover, take photos during the school day/after school events, help advertise for yearbook sales, and assist with page layouts.

Chess Club

We play/learn chess.   We learn and try new and different variations of chess.  Some members are new to the game and are just learning it.  Others play the game of chess and its variations as well as some other strategy games.  We definitely have fun!

Students meet every other week to discuss strategy related to and play board games requiring strategy. Legos too!

Students will be provided with a relaxing environment to complete mindful activities of their choice. There will be flexible seating, calm lighting, and soft music playing in the background. Activities will include puzzles, coloring, drawing, journaling, yoga, reading, DIY stress relievers (stress balls, slime, heating pads, etc.)

Flight Club

Flying is one of the greatest innovations of mankind.  If you’re interested in anything related to flying, this is for you!  Come and explore what makes flight possible.  Participate in different activities related to a variety of flying objects, and learn about some of the many applications of flight in our daily lives.

Gardening Club

Want to make the school more beautiful? Want to connect with nature? Want to relax while getting your hands dirty? The AMS Garden Club is perfect for you! We will meet every other week after school to grow plants in our school garden. We will experiment with lights and music to learn what helps plants grow. We will grow vegetables from kitchen scraps, build a hydroponics system, create seed balls, and paint garden pavers.

Mariachi Club

Students will collectively learn to play various Mariachi tunes - no musical instrument experience needed! Students can strengthen Spanish-speaking skills through song, learn to collaborate through musical experience, strengthen or develop musical skill, contribute ideas to develop the club further, and celebrate the music of Mariachi culture!

OMG (Owning My Grades Club)

OMG (Owning My Grades) club is exclusive to 8th graders only. OMG is an extension of what students have already learned in class and homework support is provided since both teachers are familiar with all content curriculums. Every other Tuesday OMG club will incorporate an SEL activity to build community and social skills. OMG club is a safe learning environment where students continue to grow as learners and as teenagers. It is a place to celebrate their successes in "OWNING THEIR GRADES".

Origami Club

Students will make amazing shapes by folding paper. We will make animals, geometric shapes, hearts, stars- you name it, we can make it by simply folding paper!

Cooking Club

Calling all teen chefs! Come learn how to cook different recipes and try new foods. For a small fee, students will meet once a month to learn how to develop their culinary skills.

Yarn Crafts Club

Learn to knit, crochet, and macrame! All skill levels welcome--beginners through experienced makers. Bring friends or make friends there. Learn a totally new skill, or come help and encourage others if you’re more experienced.  All are welcome!
