Summer Reading Program
The AMS Summer Reading Program involves all AMS students and staff. Students are required to choose to read one book from of the 2026 Rebecca Caudill Nominee book list.
All AMS students and incoming 6th grade students have already selected which book they will read. Students will receive a copy of the book they choose, along with the required bookmark assignment, by June 5th, 2025.
If a student loses their bookmark, you can print out the appropriate bookmark attached to this post. Most books on the list are fiction so most will use the fiction bookmark. However, please use the non-fiction bookmark if your student chose to read the following book: Impossible Escape: A True Story of Survival and Heroism in Nazi Europe.
All students must bring their bookmark back to school when they return on August 21, 2025 and hand it in to their ELA teacher. This bookmark assignment will count as their first ELA grade. During the first or second week of school, we will have a Reading Celebration Day where the whole school breaks into small discussion groups and has book discussions about the book they read.
The AMS Summer Reading Program Celebration is a wonderful event where students and teachers get to talk about the wonderful books they read during the summer, get to know each other and begin the school year with some fun!
