Summer Reading Program
The AMS Summer Reading Program involves all AMS students and staff. Students are required to choose to read one book from of the 2024 Rebecca Caudill Nominee book list. Then, over the summer, students should read the book and fill out a half sheet bookmark that they received from their ELA teacher.
If a student loses their bookmark, you can print out the appropriate bookmark attached to this post. Most books on the list are fiction so you will use the fiction bookmark. However, please use the non-fiction bookmark if you read either Fallout: Spies, Superbombs, and the Ultimate Cold War Showdown or Stamped (for kids) Racism, Antiracism and You.
All students must bring their bookmark back to school when they return on August 21, 2023 and hand it in to their ELA teacher. This bookmark assignment will count as their first ELA grade. During the first week of school, we will have a Reading Celebration Day where the whole school breaks into small discussion groups and has book discussions about the book they read.
It is a wonderful event where students and teachers get to talk about wonderful books, get to know each other and begin the school year.
