Summer Reading Program
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
Algonquin Middle School is excited to announce that we are continuing our summer reading program. This year, we are asking that all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students read one book of their choice.
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a great book, and research shows that students who read regularly over the summer maintain, and often increase, their reading skills. We know that independent reading contributes to academic success, and we hope your child(ren) will include it along with their many fun activities this summer.
ALL Incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Students
Complete BOTH parts:
Part 1:
Read! Read at least one book, but we hope you will read more than one. If you need help choosing a book, there are some book lists to explore as well as the local library websites.
Part 2:
Write a letter to your next year’s English Language Arts teacher. This letter should be signed by a parent or guardian and you will give this to your ELA teacher on the first or second day of school. This letter can count as your first learning behavior grade for ELA. Read through the specific directions in Part 2 in order to complete your letter.
